Normally I tend to be fairly pragmatic in my politics. I try to have few illusions. However, every so often even my gag reflex cannot digest the shit I am asked to swallow.
In this case my problem is Al Sharpton. I have tried to be pragmatic on this one. I can tactically recognize the bind the national Democrats are in. They are terrified to confront the race issue head on. They need black votes badly. So they have made the strategic decision to just let Sharpton's campaign run its course. Let him pretend, maybe let him make a speech at the convention, preferably at an hour when nobody is watching. OK. I would love to kid myself for a while longer that I am not stuck with the Shrub, the House GOP leadership, the K street whores...Then along came Benton Harbor and I am reminded that when blacks beat and murder whites, Democrats look the other way. Sharpton helped incite and lead a pogrom in Brooklyn over a traffic accident. Sharpton and Dinkens helped get the murderer off because when black people are angry it is OK to kill white people. Yankel Rosenbaum died for the crime of being a white Jew on the wrong street at the wrong moment. Yes, shit happens. However the piece of shit firing up the mob and then helping the killer get off is on the stage of every Democratic event and no one says a word. OK. The Democrats are the black party. I am white. I will live with the theocrats and K street whores. What a wonderful choice.
