This was supposed to be a coronation. Go to the yahoo groups I frequent and it was the line I was spewing. Boy was I wrong. There will be books written on this campaign. If Luttwak's Coup [http://www.amazon.com/Coup-d%C3%89tat-Practical-Edward-Luttwak/dp/0674175476/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1203478396&sr=1-1} is the how to manual of taking over a country, the HRC campaign manual of 2008 will be the how not to book of running a US national campaign. She has essentially handed an unbeatable lead to Obama. Barring assassination or discovering him in bed with a dead sexually violated toddler he's going to be nominated. I won't even go into why the Ice Bitch is still running. She is in denial. At some point she looks in a mirror and weights her options.
1. She can be the next generation's Ted Kennedy - the grand old liberal voice of the Senate, a throwback to a glorious past generation.
2. She can blow up the party and use every bit of dirt in her files on every super delegate [she still loses and loses her political future but if she is Nixon reincarnated [not my personal read but a common one in the commentary these days] this is a possible if insane choice].
3. She can come out of the closet, divorce Bill and move the GF into the DC town house. She doesn't have to face the voters again until 2012. She can coast, do another book and decide what she wants to do with the rest of her life now that being President is out.
Now for the scary part - the Dem nomination at least makes sense. McCain had a first tonight. He actually carried [barely, if the exit polls are accurate] the Republican vote in a state. He's been nominated [it is unofficial but even more in the bag than Obama] by independents, Democrats, military families, the aged and the 20-30% of Republicans in each state who regard themselves as moderates [and feel oppressed by W's GOP and W's mix of religion and Dixie accent]. Forget the national poll numbers. The MSM have given him a free ride so far. He's the Republican they hate least. However once he is THE Republican the slant will begin. The magic words will be Charles Keating [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Keating#Failure_of_Saving_.26_Loan.2C_the_Keating_Five]. Mr Clean suddenly won't look so clean. We had best get ready for President Hussein. Best case is he is the second coming of Jimmy Carter. Worst case is he is the second coming of Herbert Hoover. He doesn't have the establishment ties to handle a financial implosion and while one isn't certain it is looking less improbable by the month. Interesting times...Labels: The Ice Bitch Continues to Melt
